Katrina has been closely involved in flute teaching and performing for many years. Since moving to Cork in 2001 she has been teaching at the MTU Cork School of Music and the Cork ETB School of Music.
Katrina believes strongly in ensemble work and she directs CAFE (Cork Adult Flute Ensemble) at MTU CSM.
In 2023 her piece Summer Breeze for flute quartet won the award for the best newly published Quartet at the National Flute Association of America’s annual convention.
Strolling on the Strand, her arrangement of Irish traditional tunes for flute quartet, was premiered at the International Low Flutes Convention in Washington in 2024.
She continues to write and arrange music especially for flutes.

As a founding member of the Hifilutin flute quartet she has performed throughout Ireland and in USA. She also plays Irish wooden flute and pursues a keen interest in Irish traditional music.
After completing a performance diploma in Sydney she won scholarships to study at the University of Music in Vienna where she completed her M.A. in 1995.
Living in Vienna from 1988-2000 she also performed with many orchestras and ensembles at prestigious international festivals and was a founding member of the Vienna Pocket Opera and made regular appearances and recordings with the contemporary music ensemble Klangforum Wien.
