Congratulations to the twenty performers in the Junior Concerto Competition 2021!
Adjudicator, Dr Mary Lennon, was extremely impressed with the very high standard presented by all performers. She was delighted to hear so many live performances throughout the day and asked that I communicate her thanks to you all.
In addition to the usual - technical assurance, musical awareness, sound quality, imagination, and communication - she reminded all performers not to forget to perform, communicate with your accompanist, and become even more familiar with the full score, rather than just your own part. She was extremely impressed with the high level of preparation. It was lovely to see different stages and levels - there is so much potential and she encouraged you all to keep up the good work. A very special thanks to the incredible accompanists Frances Kelleher, Ciara Moroney, Anne Ralph, Michael Joyce, Niamh Quigley, James Taylor, and Conor Palliser, and sincere recognition of the very hard work of the teachers. Congratulations to everyone!
