The Dublin Feis Ceoil is the premier national competition for classical music in the country and takes place in the RDS annually during the two weeks leading up to Easter.
The competitions commenced yesterday and CIT Cork School of Music students made an immediate impact taking all three top places in the Violin under 17 Competition.

The Chamber Music Cup competition took place through the afternoon and evening and again the first prize went to a CIT Cork School of Music ensemble.

This is the second year in a row that the Sunrise Quartet have won this competition. They continue to be mentored and guided by retired member of staff the wonderful Constantin Zanidache.
Three of the four members of the quartet are currently doing Junior Certificate exams , juggling practicals and orals to get to Dublin.
The competition they won is open to students of all ages – many at third level and post graduate.
They take away the Chamber Music Cup and €200 plus the Hazel de Courcy Lewis Cup for string quartet and the National String Quartet Foundation award of €1,000.
