MT938 BAMT Applicant 2022 Assessment Submission
Candidates for entry to the BA(Hons) in Musical Theatre for 2022 must audition in the three disciplines of dance, acting and singing. Assessment will be through a combination of video submission and in-person audition. The in-person audition elements will take place on Saturday April 9th or Sunday April 10th in MTU Cork School of Music. Detailed schedule and specific times for these dates to follow.
Dance:
This element is assessed through in-person workshops. Candidates will be taught a short routine and asked to perform it in small groups at the end of the session. Appropriate fitted dance or gym wear should be worn with jazz shoes or bare feet.
Acting:
Audition workshops will take place in person. Candidates will take part in an unprepared group drama improvisations and will be assessed on participation.
Candidates must also submit a self-tape video of a three-minute monologue, from a published play or musical.
Singing:
Candidates must submit vocal auditions by video. The requirements are 2 contrasting musical theatre songs, preferably with accompaniment (live or backing track).
Video Self-Tape Instructions:
All candidates should begin their videos by speaking - to the camera - their full names and CAO numbers.
Before performing each piece, the candidate should speak again to camera introducing the work with the song title, show title and composer/play title & playwright.
Smartphone video is fine provided both the video and audio are of a reasonable quality.
Please upload your videos to YouTube as unlisted videos, and submit the links through the form below by Friday April 8th at 5pm. Due to the size of the audition videos, we cannot accept these directly by email.
