Cre8Tech

Music technology programme for 4th - 6th year students

Cre8Tech is a hands-on course designed to develop an understanding of sound engineering, ideal for 4th to 6th years. In weekly classes, students will build a solid foundation of the audio signal chain, from the initial capture of audio to the final mix of a track.

This course provides a practical and creative introduction to the core tenants of the modern recording studio. Students will learn the principles of how a microphone captures sound, explore the audio signal chain from source to digital capture, how to use a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), and develop fundamental mixing techniques. This module also introduces virtual instruments and the use of MIDI, allowing students to create sound even without a microphone or live instrument.

The primary aims of this module are to equip students with the confidence and practical skills to record and produce their own audio tracks, and to build a strong foundation for further exploration into the world of audio engineering and sound design.
