Spatial Days @ MTU Cork School of Music

Spatial Audio Laboratory

To mark the opening of the new Spatial Audio Laboratory at MTU Cork School of Music we are delighted to announce a call for works to celebrate this in an artistic context. The Spatial Days event will invite five artists to:

  1. Come and work with us at the school, under our mentorship, to produce a new and engaging work that in immersive spatial audio during the month of March.
  2. Preview and perform a work in progress version of the work in the Stack Theatre using an immersive loudspeaker setup.
  3. All five artists will be requested to prepare a final realised version of their work for Dolby Atmos digital distribution on Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon via the CSM Sounds label csm-sounds. Prizes will be given for one winner and one highly commended.

The call is open to any composer or sound artist resident on the island of Ireland who can travel to the school to learn, mix and preview their work during MTU’s Innovation Month event which takes place in March (exact dates TBD). Unfortunately we can’t cover any artist expenses such as a travel or accommodation. We envisage at least 4 days where artists will visit CSM:

  1. Introduction to spatial audio workflows and the Spatial Audio Lab
  2. Mixing sessions with feedback
  3. Performance and Presentation of Work in Progress
  4. Finalisation for Streaming Delivery
