TY Programme - Music & Technology
Instructed by skilled professionals in a world-class facility, students will experience audio recording, mixing and production techniques through hands-on experience with industry-standard hardware and software in state-of-the-art facilities.
Who should apply?
Applicants with a serious interest in recording, digital audio workstations (DAW), production, or live sound reinforcement are encouraged to apply. Previous experience with music technology isn’t a requirement, but a genuine enthusiasm for learning practical skills in the field is. Places are limited so spend some time preparing a really strong application and apply early.
When and where?
Tuesday 5th to Friday 8th January
MTU Cork School of Music, Union Quay, Cork
What is the timetable like?
Approx 10am - 4pm each day. A detailed timetable of the programme will be provided on the first day.
What should I include in the 'Personal Statement' section?
This is your opportunity to tell us about your experience and achievements as well as your career aspirations. Below are a few things you may wish to consider mentioning:
- How long have you been interested in recording, production and music technology?
- Do you regularly use a DAW?
- Have you made any recordings or productions you are particularly proud of? You can submit a listen link in your applications (such as YouTube, Soundcloud etc.).
Your Personal Statement is the most important part of your application and will generally determine whether or not a placement offer is made. Places are limited and applications will be short-listed. Take time to consider your answers and above all, make it compelling but succinct (200 words max).
Is there a fee?
Following placement offers, a non-refundable fee of €100 must be paid online to secure your place.
