Lecturer in Musical Theatre Voice, Professional Portfolio and Year Leader
Clodagh Long has enjoyed an extensive performing career across the West End and internationally, spanning musical theatre, concert performance, voice over and recording work, television and film. Alongside her performing career, she has established herself as a specialist vocal educator, with particular expertise in Musical Theatre and vocal health.
Clodagh holds a BA in Communication Studies, graduating with First Class Honours for her thesis, Theatrical Performance as a Medium of Cross-Cultural Communication. She was awarded the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship to undertake her MA at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
Clodagh has developed a particular specialism in vocal health and sustainable performance. She is the founder of Voice Craft, established in 2020 and is a qualified Vocal Health Habilitation Professional, Vocal Health First Aider and Vocal Massage practitioner. She has completed Estill Voice Training Levels 1 and 2, alongside further training in contemporary and Musical Theatre voice. Her work brings together extensive professional performance experience with a strong focus on vocal health, technical development and sustainable practice.
Theatre highlights include: Sharon Rabitte and 1st Cover Imelda in the original cast of The Commitments at the Palace Theatre; Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde at The English Theatre, Frankfurt, Johanna in The Wife of Michael Cleary, Nancy in the new musical Rebel Song at The Other Palace; The Sound of Music (international tour throughout Qatar and the Middle East).
Concert and solo performance highlights include: West Side Story, Bord Gais Energy Theatre; West End Live, Trafalgar Square; An Evening of Shirley Bassey at Dora Stoutzker Concert Hall, Cardiff, attended by Dame Shirley Bassey; Give My Regards to Broadway with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra at the National Concert Hall, Dublin; Ibiza Orchestral with Stage Left Events Ltd and the Balearics Concert Orchestra at 3Arena, Dublin; Inis Ealga Irish Touring Dance Show on tour, Croatia; The Music of James Bond with Elite Artists on UK tour.
Clodagh was also an original member and soloist with US vocal harmony group Celtic Angels, touring throughout the USA and Alaska.
She has performed along side and for high profile acts such as Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Paul McCartney, Elaine Paige, Dame Barbara Windsor and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Clodagh has worked extensively in television, film and recording. Some television credits include Children In Need, Masetra and Elizabeth(Turkey); The Late Late Show; The Paul O’Grady Show (ITV); The One Show (BBC) and The Terry Wogan Show. Film/TV credits include Evie in Deliver Us From Evil, directed by Lawrence Gough, and Mary Dowdall in Agnes Browne, directed by Angelica Huston.
She has also featured in television commercials and recordings and has worked as a vocal coach and recording vocalist for RTÉ productions, including The Late Late Toy Show and RTÉjr, coaching students for performances.
As a creative artist, Clodagh created, wrote, produced and performed Cathy and the Cliffs: The Music of Kate Bush, a sell out solo production which has toured London and Ireland. She is actively involved in new musical theatre writing, workshops and development projects across the UK and Ireland, supporting the development of new work and emerging artists. She continues to work professionally as a guest vocalist, recording artist and performer across live, corporate and orchestral projects.
Clodagh has extensive experience preparing emerging and professional performers for the demands of the industry, including coaching performers for West End and touring roles. She has also worked alongside casting directors in their search for performers and has particular experience working with young performers and in children’s casting.
At MTU Cork School of Music, Clodagh teaches Voice, Group Singing and Professional Portfolio and serves as Year Leader on the BA Musical Theatre degree. She established a Vocal Wellness Community, creating opportunities for students and staff to develop their understanding of vocal health, wellbeing and sustainable performance. She is actively involved in developing creative programmes and initiatives within the degree and is committed to creating inclusive and supportive environments for emerging performers.
Clodagh has represented MTU Cork School Of Music through the European Musical Theatre Teacher Exchange in Sweden, contributing to work exploring gender within musical theatre education. She continues to engage with professional development and wider conversations around inclusion, representation and sustainable practice within the performing arts.
Clodagh’s students have gone on to perform professionally on the West End and UK tours, as well as at venues including the National Concert Hall, Cork Opera House and Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. She has supported students in progressing to MA and postgraduate study at institutions across the UK and Europe. Through her teaching, industry connections and ongoing professional practice, Clodagh is committed to preparing students for sustainable, versatile and successful careers within the performing arts.
